For the first time ever, hyperbaric oxygen therapy in a hard chamber will be available for everyone in Middle Tennessee.
Cool Springs Family Medicine is thrilled to announce their new Fortius 420 hard shell Hyperbaric Chamber!
Many patients are already familiar with the benefits of the hard chamber treatments which permit higher pressures (up to 2.0 atmospheres), compared to the soft chamber (up to 1.3 atmospheres). Below is a list of conditions that are typically treated by Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in a hard chamber has been effective in treating the following conditions:
During Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatments (HBOT), a person is actually exposed to increased atmospheric pressure. This allows more oxygen to be absorbed into the body – tissues, organs, the brain, and fluids – with a wide range of beneficial results.
In addition to helping displace toxins and other impurities, HBOT sessions stimulate cell growth, increase neural function, and support the immune system. Though research is still being conducted, there is strong evidence that HBOT can even help reduce tumor growth in cancer patients and improve behavior in autistic children.
Rather than the large, hard-shelled chambers associated with the military and hospitals, we use a soft chamber. This not only has a more friendly design, sealed by a zipper, but the ample viewing portals help patients who may be uncomfortable in closed spaces.
Are there any other expenses?
For the very best results, you will be required to own or rent an oxygen hood. The clinic will be selling the hoods at a cost of $130. There will also be a rental option available, but we suggest those purchasing a package go ahead and get their own hood.
Most children really like the hood once they get over any intial hesitation. The oxygen-rich environment makes then feel fantastic and they do associate those positive feelings with the hood.
Can I file this with insurance?
HBOT is typically only covered for certain types of skin or limb conditions (burns, gangrene) and stroke recovery. Dr. Kalb will not be filing insurance on the patient’s behalf for hyperbaric medicine – it will be up to you to work out any potential insurance coverage with your carrier. Those purchasing a package should expect to get no insurance reimbursement.
Does this qualify for health savings accounts?
It may. There are many different types of medical spending programs and it is not typically accurate to address them as a whole. Please consult your plan administrator for advice.
