Cool Springs Family Medicine announces the opening of their Yoga/Pilates studio. Under the leadership of Laura Harriman, a classically trained Pilates and Yoga instructor, beginner Pilates and Yin Yoga classes are now offered.
Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps to build flexibility, strength, endurance and coordination in the legs, abdominals, arms and back.
Pilates works well for a wide range of people: Athletes, dancers, seniors, during pregnancy and postpartum, and people at various stages of rehabilitation.
Some of the Benefits of Pilates are improving your balance, lowering stress, improving digestion, increase intake of oxygen to benefit the whole body, improve circulation, enhance the immune system, sculpt the body to create a longer, leaner shape, and improve coordination and strength.
Yin Yoga is a unique style of yoga that emphasizes relaxation while providing beneficial stimulus that directs the energy of yoga deeper than the superficial tissues and muscle. Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues such as ligaments, bones and even the joints of the body. Yin Yoga generally targets the hips, pelvis and lower spine challenging the participant to long postures and slower pace to achieve maximum benefit.
Some benefits of Yin Yoga are to prevent degeneration and promote optimal bone density, improve strength of the bones, improve posture and mobility, enhances energy flow through the meridians, improves health and recovery from chronic illness and enhances self awareness.
Yoga and Pilates group classes cost $20 per person and the maximum number of people is 10 per class.
If you purchase 6 classes in advance, any combination of Pilates or Yoga, the cost is reduces to $15/class (non-refundable)
You can organize your own private class of minimum of 4 people and the cost is $20 per person and you schedule the class yourself with the instructor.
Private, individual classes are $75 and are arranged with the instructor.
Private group and individual lessons in more advanced Pilates techniques and a variety of Yoga disciplines.
